Imagination

At every training event I have hosted I ask this question:

Why do we call ourselves “Imagine No Malaria”?

What is that little word, “imagine” doing in there?

Usually, the first response I get is a reference to John Lennon.

But then people think for a bit.

And their faces start to light up.

They start dreaming.

They start picturing this world with me.

We imagine together a different reality than the one in front of us.

We start thinking up creative possibilities.

Some people think that imagination is dead… that we have lost our ability to play and be inventive and envision a world that is different.

I firmly disagree, and this little boy, Caine, is one reason why:
